Pain can be unbearable, tiring and frustrating. Whether it’s back pain, neck pain or pain arising from fibromyalgia, arthritis, and cancer, it is important to get control over it and find a pain management therapy. So, what is pain and what are the causes of pain?

Pain is not just a physical experience but also an emotional experience. It can be an indicator of a health problem as well. Although the definition of pain can be different from person to person but the definition remains the same, it causes discomfort and irritability. As per studies, it has been found out that massages can be a suitable treatment post-surgery. There is a significant reduction in pain and anxiety and imparts a feeling of calmness. The results are compelling enough to claim that massage should be taken for relieving pain. Massage is a good way to relieve pain or inflammation if you are suffering from back pain, osteoarthritis, neck pain, headaches, etc.

Acupuncture

Acupunture can reduce back pain, headaches, osteoarthritis, migraines etc. The main purpose of acupuncture is to realign the chakras of the body and correct the energy imbalances. Tiny needles are inserted into specific body parts which ease pain and improve the body functions especially the nervous system and musculoskeletal system.

Herbal remedies

It is good to reduce inflammation that could increase pain. Some well-known herbs and supplements include omega-3 fish oil, spices like turmeric. Mustard can assuage the pain caused by minor burns while honey can be used to heal scars.
A tea made of cloves, cinnamon, ginger and honey can be used to cure pain in the wisdom tooth. Ginger is a known herbal remedy to relieve joint pain and muscle pain as it contains inflammation reducing phytochemicals. Turmeric can also cure heartburn and arthritis pain. It is safe to use and can also be added to meals or a glass of milk with a teaspoon of turmeric to relieve inflammation. However, it might cause indigestion and people having problems related to gallbladder must avoid it. You can also consume grated ginger and turmeric mixed with black pepper to treat joint pain. Or make a smoothie which includes your favorite fruit along with turmeric and ginger. Do consult your doctor before testing herbal remedies.

Other alternative pain management methods like Yoga, Meditation, and Tai Chi are also effective in treating pain. Patients and doctors are increasingly focusing on these methodologies to provide relief and comfort.
